The ShowCase conferences are organised by the exam class of the Heidelberg University postgraduate MA-programme in Conference Interpreting. They demonstrate the skill level achieved by modern training methods. Instant transfer into, out of and between nine floor languages is achieved: German, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Russian and, a first: Chinese.
For this year’s conference, international researchers will be presenting a host of different methodological approaches to cover the wide gamut of their fields of expertise. The Motto is WISSEN.SCHAF(F)T.Fortschritt (academic rigour creates progress).
This collaboration between faculty, students, alumni and seasoned professionals is a demonstration of how applied research directly translates into skilled interpreting in the modern booth: Computer Assisted Interpreting tools will be taken to the test in a real-life conference setting.
As usual, we are looking forward to feedback from professional conference interpreters and guests, who will join us for the occasion.
For the speakers, we provide a highly professional setting where they can present their research in a beautiful venue: The historic conference hall where Bunsen and Leibnitz conducted their ground-braking research in their day is still nestled in the heart of Heidelberg’s historic old town.
The event is free of charge and takes place on July 3rd 2019 in one of the most beautiful venues in the heart of Heidelberg’s historic old town: at the IÜD, Conference Hall II, Plöck 57a, D-69117 Heidelberg.
